Upload your own legal documents
![]()
Your academy should reflect how you run your business, including the legal documents your students see before they sign up or make a purchase.
We have added a new Legal settings page that lets you upload your own PDF versions of your Terms of Service, Privacy Policy, and Cookie Policy. When a custom document is uploaded, it replaces the default Forento-generated page for that policy on your academy.
What changed
Until now, custom legal handling was limited to additional terms that could be attached to the existing Terms of Service. That worked for extra clauses, but it did not give creators full control over the documents shown to students.
With this update, you can now replace:
- Terms of Service
- Privacy Policy
- Cookie Policy
Each document can be managed independently. You can upload a PDF, open the current custom document, replace it with a new one, or remove it to return to the default version.
How it works
Go to Settings > Legal in your creator dashboard. From there, upload a PDF for the document you want to customize.
Once uploaded, your academy will show that PDF instead of the default policy page. If you remove the custom document, Forento automatically falls back to the default document again.
A careful confirmation step
Because these documents can affect your legal relationship with students, Forento now shows a warning before saving a replacement. This confirmation is there to make sure custom documents are intentional, current, and reviewed before they go live.
We recommend checking each PDF carefully before uploading it, especially if you have different refund terms, privacy obligations, cookie usage, company details, or local legal requirements.
Why this matters
Creators often need legal pages that match their own business, country, audience, and internal policies. This update gives you more control while keeping the default Forento documents available as a fallback.
It is a small settings page, but an important step toward making every academy feel more complete, independent, and ready for the real world.
